So the saying for my boys is everyone has a Cameron Lucero in life. You are never the best at anything, there is always someone better and if there's not someone better now, there will be someone better in the future. It's just the way things are and so you have to constantly be self-assessing and striving to become better than where you are currently.
I bring this up because Riley, who is an excellent wrestler, lost two matches yesterday. Granted, he was sick, granted, he didn't feel himself, but he still lost. He was not the best there that day. He ran into a Cameron Lucero. Maybe it was his sickness, maybe it was his own mental state, or maybe the kids were just plain better. It really doesn't matter. It only matters that Riley learns and improves.
Riley did have some big accomplishments this week with his Dad. Brad took him on a back country ski trip on a really cold day. Look, here's Riley almost freezing to death.
When he summited with his Dad though, it was all worth it.
I'm so grateful to Brad who makes my kids do hard things.
