School started Monday. My youngest started kindergarten. I wasn't
going to cry over that. I didn't cry over that...not really. I cried
over the fact that I couldn't walk him to his class on the first day
because Brad and I were working and work started at 8 AM and so did school. I hate when I
can't be there for my kids. Ben, who is becoming more and more
perceptive as time passes by, did his best to comfort me by saying,
"Don't worry Mom. I'll make sure he gets to his class." And he did. He's such a good kid.
We've done a TON of playing this summer. Our home town is a great place to live when it's summer. Rivers are everywhere and it only takes a few minutes and you can find some way to play in them..
And play we did. Day in and day out. With cousins, friends and well, just ourselves. There was a lot of fun to be had in our rivers.
Jordan and Kenzie had their first special adventure with Dad this summer. They were able to float down the middle fork of the Salmon River with a group of Dad's good friends.
They loved every second of it. And we got some great pictures like this one:
This one makes me laugh because this is what I see Jordan doing all the time...posing. Posing to show off his muscles. In front of mirrors, in front of girls, in front of Dad, in front of my brother Rick (just ask him). Jordan's really into his muscles right now. The funny thing is that Jordan wasn't posing purposely for this picture. He's actually pulling in a fish from the river...but he looks like he's posing. And I'm sure if there was a picture he'd want all the pretty girls to see, this would be the one.
And while I love this picture of Kenzie:
I'm positive of all the pictures we have of her this WOULDN'T be the one she'd show to all the cute boys around. So don't tell her I posted this here, deal?
We also took our bikes out on a few trails this summer. And while for the most part we handled the trails pretty smoothly:
We (okay that should really say I at least that's what Brad claims but I found my way back to the truck) did find ourselves lost at times and kind of tuckered out
As for the kids taking care of themselves this summer while Dad and I worked well....sometimes we came home to find this:
| Black eye that Riley gave Ben |
and sometimes we came home to find this:
I'll let you decide whether that worked out or not. Know this, they're all still alive and for the most part my home is intact.
As for the summer...it's gone and the fall is coming. I'm so excited for the fall here. They say that is the most beautiful season where we live and I'm looking forward to the brilliant colors we'll soon see.
