Seven bikes for seven brothers....I mean Belts

We finally did it.  We purchased our seventh bike.

Dad decided it was time for Ben to move up a level

With seven bikes may come some bumps and bruises

But for now we're all okay

And feeling pretty happy

Exotic pets

Exotic pets can be cool.

Especially when you find them in your own garage

and three more in your own yard under rocks.

Especially when you get to take a picture with them.

But maybe not so much when they jump at your face
(which is what this one is about to do and did to Jake)

Maybe then it's time to set them free.

Bazooka Ooka Bubblegum

I'm sure you all know the following song:

My mom gave me a penny
To go and buy a henny
but I didn't buy no henny
I bought me some bubble gum
Bazooka, ooka bubble gum
Bazooka Bubble Gum

If not, here's the you tube link:

I actually didn't know that was an actual song until today.  My kids love that song and they love bubble gum. I can't seem to keep a pack of my own without all the kids getting into it and the package being gone the same afternoon that I bought the gum.  I finally gave up and just started buying the big packs from Sam's club and it's still gone within a week.

They love gum so much that if they make some money and are able to get a treat they usually buy a pack of bubble gum.

They love it so much that sometimes they chew it for a REALLY long time.

Take Jake for instance.  Yesterday morning he gave me some trash to throw away.  "What is that?"  I asked him.  "My gum."  Unaware that I had any gum in the house I asked, "Did you find some gum?"  To which he laughed and replied, "No Mom.  This is the gum Lisa gave me."  "From last night?"  I asked surprised.  Jake again smiled and laughed, "Yeah.  I slept with it in my mouth mom."  NICE...and it wasn't even the sugarless kind.

Narcolepsy? Maybe

If you follow my posts you all know that Jake has a tendency to fall asleep pretty much anywhere no matter the comfort of the area or the activity he is doing.

 in the high chair:

eating cereal:

waiting for Mommy:

Walking:

at the dinner table:

going sledding:

or getting a snack for himself:

So the following story should surprise none of you.  Jake started kindergarten this year.  Here, where we live, kindergarten is full day.  So, Jake gets up at 6:30, catches the bus at 7:00 and arrives home around 4:00.  Jake goes to the same elementary that Riley and Ben go to.  So, Jake, Riley and Ben all ride the same bus home from school every day.  On Friday, Riley and Ben get off the bus and start walking.  Soon thereafter, Ben notices something missing, or rather SOMEONE...his brother Jake.  Luckily, the bus hadn't pulled away quite yet and Ben was able to flag the driver down and ascend up the stairs to ask about Jake.  After a few moments of searching, Ben was able to locate his little brother and Jake was, of course, sound asleep.

Needless to say, with Jake's tendency to fall asleep so easily, Ben has been given strict instructions to sit beside Jake from now on to avoid any similar future mishaps.
